Michael Zhang Takes it Down – 05/02/2017 – 23:15

Wow! Well what an event we have just had to kick off the 11th season off the GUKPT.

The biggest main event ever with a massive 435 entries!! London is always busy but this week exceeded expectations as the UKs longest running tour was again massively supported by it’s brilliant following.

Today we brought 30 players back all with their eyes on the first place prize of £113,000, the biggest first prize we have ever had for a £1k main event.

Like the tournament has been all week, it was fast and furious to start with today and before we knew it we were down to our final nine players.

The first player to leave the final would be Khoe Le, after running into the quads of Michael Zhang, his short stack went all in with A-7 which couldn’t hold against the K-8 of Zapatero. Khoa took home £7,800 for 9th.

Leaving us in 8th was the only woman to make the final table Muskan Sethi. A great performance would end when her A-Q ran into pocket queens. Muskan would cash for £10,400.

Alexios Zervos finished in second place in the grand final to Ben Winsor in 2015 and couldn’t go one better today. He couldn’t win a flip holding Ace-King against the eights of Javier. Alexios would cash for £14,400.

The next player to leave the final table would be Sam Meeuse, finishing in 6th place for £18,200 after running A-Q into the A-K of Michael Zhang.

Paul Siddle put up a great performance, grinding the whole of the final table, it looked like he was very card dead. His final hand he shoved K-J and was called by Javier holding A-K.

Carl Pickles played a great game after being the 400th entrant into the tournament. He was fitting that he would finish in 4th place. Short stacked he shoved 9-8 of clubs and was called by Michael holding pocket nines. Carl was delighted with his £29,400 score.

We got three handed and Michael Zhang turned on the burners, he soon had a huge lead over the other two players.

Fahd Bennanismires got his 15 bigs in in a coinflip situation, he held A-9 against the 8-8 of Zhang. The eights held and Fahd would be eliminated in 3rd for £48,900.

Zhang went into the heads up play with a big chip lead and it didn’t last long. 20 minutes into play and it was all over! Javier Zapatero made a move and was caught at it by Zhang who had rivered a flush. With that we had a champion. Javier finishing in 2nd place for £74,000. Michael the winner for a massive £113,000!!

It’s been another very successful and we already can’t wait for Manchester in three weeks time.

I hope you have enjoyed the coverage over the last four days and until next time. Be lucky.

The flop comes changing nothing.

The turn card comes giving Lam the lead, but gives Josh a straight draw.
