He leads the way heading into the last level and a half of play here on Day 1a.

Welcome To Walsall – 27/04/2017 – 12:30

Good afternoon and welcome to Walsall for the 4th leg of the 2017 GUKPT Tour. Last year this event wasn’t on the schedule, but after a flood at the casino in Leeds, Walsall stepped in and in a big way. 241 entries last year meant that this year it deservedly got a slot on the tour for this year.

Kiat Le bested the 241 field last year, taking home£34,850, for finishing the tournament with every single chip, hopefully we will see him again this year to defend his title.

The tournament is a £500 buy in with a £100,000 GTD. For their buy in, players will recevive 20,000 chips on a 60 minute clock, played on the best structure around. Today Day 1a will take place where the players will play 9 levels of play. This will be mirrored tomorrow when another nine levels will be played by the Day 1b players. On Day 2 the players will combine to play 9 more levels, or down to a final table. If you make the final day, that will be on Sunday where we will play down to a winner!! Each player is allowed one entry and two re-entries per day.

We will be here with you for the duration of play, bringing you live blog updates, pictures, chip counts and exits from around the tables. The GUKPT HD Live Stream provided by Cardroom Direct will also be running on a thirty minute delay with all hole cards shown throughout the whole tournament.

Play begins today at 1pm and it should be a cracking tournament!
