Poker shines bright at Blackpool’s biggest GUKPT in 10 years!

An incredible 314 players made the walk down the famous Blackpool Promenade this week and into the £1,100 GUKPT main event, creating the biggest prizepool the event has seen in 10 years.

Blackpool has always been one of the standout legs on the tour. The glitz and glamour of the town combined with the strong local poker community produced a week long festival of action packed fun giving players the chance to play for life changing amounts of money. A great satellite offering both at the casino and online at Grosvenorpoker.com contributed almost 100 main event seats allowing a chance for everyone.

One of those satellite winners was former Joiner come poker enthusiast Daniel Corbett, who bagged his seat in the comfort of his own home for £30 whilst playing online whilst playing exclusively on Grosvenorpoker.com online. The 25 year old made the relatively short trip from Blackburn to take his seat at the event where he was joined by some of the biggest names in the business. Well known pros Matt Davenport, Tom Hall, Mitch Johnson, Grosvenor Casinos’ Pro Jeff Kimber and Last year’s winner Tom Middleton were all one of the 30 who cashed in the Main Event. None of them however could prevent Daniel from ultimately claiming the huge £87,280 1st prize and the title of Blackpool latest GUKPT main event champion. Daniel is no stranger to Grosvenor Casinos’ events, having won a 25/25 event in Manchester in 2015 and also coming in 10th at the 2016 Goliath. This means he is the closest we’ve come to witnessing our first ever Triple Crown winner and something tells us this won’t be the last we see of him. There’s still plenty of time for the young gun to accomplish this ultimate Grosvenor Casinos’ accolade and he’s already pencilled in a return to the Ricoh Arena for next year’s Goliath.

Daniel who currently lives with his parents, is looking forward to using his prize money to help him move out of home. He also has a trip to Mauritius planned with his girlfriend and is already eyeing up Las Vegas for 2018. First things first though – he needs to come good on a promise made to his Mum, who is now picking out a new bathroom!

The lights may have gone out on another spectacular festival in Blackpool but talk has already turned to next week’s GUKPT Grand Final, held at London’s iconic ‘The Poker Room’, located above Grosvenor Casino Victoria on Edgware Road. The £400,000 GUKPT Grand Final Main Event is the perfect way to wrap up what has been another phenomenal year for Grosvenor Casinos’ GUKPT. The Grand Final officially kicks off this Sunday with the £25,000 Mini Main and 10 Seat Super Satellite. There are still opportunities for players to win their seats either online on Grosvenorpoker.com or at The Poker Room. Find all the details here
