Harry Law Takes It Down – 07/09/2014 – 23:45

The first ever GukPT Main Event in Leeds has been a huge success! 228 entries over the two starting days was a great turnout which everyone was pleased with.

16 hopefuls came back today all with their eye on the first place prize of £32,000, but after 8 and a half levels of play Harry Law will be the one getting his hands on that.

The day started very slow and continued that way throughout.

It took us nearly four levels to reach the final table of nine. Those that didn’t make it were

10th – £2,050 – Liam Crawford
11th – £1,800 – Ken Usher
12th – £1,700 – Jim Gardner
13th – £1,650 – Craig Dawson
14th – £1,350 – Jamie O’Connor
15th – £1,350 – Martin Sanderson
16th – £1,250 – Adam Chadwick

Michael Howard went into the final nine as the chip leader followed by Mark Evans & Michael Devlin.

Although coming into the final as one of the big stacks Michael Devlin was the first to leave finishing in 9th position. All in with pocket twos but running into the eights of Harry Law. Ninth place would be good for £2,400.

In 8th we would lose Dom Mahoney. Dom would short stack for most of the day. Eventually shoving his ten bigs in with and running into the of Harry who knocked another player out. Dom would head towards the cash desk to collect £2,850.

The legend that is Willie Tann finished in 7th place all in with pocket fives and running into the pocket nines of Michael Howard. No five for Willie and he would add £3,550 to his ever growing hendon mob page.

Ben Turnstill who was many of peoples favourite was eliminated in 6th place. Calling it off with but couldn’t beat the of Michael Howard as Michal rivered a six. Ben would disapointly head out in 6th for £4,450.

The action tightened up a lot until we lost Martin Paul in 5th. He flipped out as his pocket eights couldn’t hold up against the of Mark who turned a Jack. Fifth place would be good for Martin to take home £5,900.
In fourth place we would lose Jonny Cooper in the sickest hand so far today. Pocket Kings for Jonny couldn’t beat the of Michael who hit runner runner straight as the board ran out . Jonny would cash for £8,700.

Mark Evans would be our 3rd place finisher, getting his stack all in on a with for trips but unfortunately running into Harry who flopped a full house with .
Mark couldn’t find his one and only out and left in third for £13,300.

Heads up only lasted around 10 hands before it was all over!! On a flop of Michael shipped over Harrys raise and was snapped off! Harry tabling for top pair and had Michael drawing to two outs as he showed He couldn’t get there and Michael would finish runner up for £21,350.
With that last hand Harry Law had all the chips in the tournament and was crowned GukPT Leeds Main Event Champion.

I think this event will definitely be on the tour next year as it’s had such a good turnout. I hope you enjoyed all our coverage over the last four days and will join us again on the next leg. That leg will be in Luton next month. So either see us there or just us by watching the blog or live stream.

Until next time, be lucky.
