 Goodbye From Portsmouth – 02/06/2013 – 20

Well what a day and what a final table it has been. It started off with a bang like no final I have ever seen before and it has ended it fantastic style with two great players putting on a master class of heads up play.

The first player to be eliminated from the final table was Morgan Sorfleet only a few hands in. He got his stack in with Q-8 on a Q–6–10–7 board, for top pair and a gut shot and ran into the A-Q of Khalick Mohangee. The top pair, top kicker would hold and Morgan would head out in 9th for £1,510.

DSC_2987

Then within about 5 minutes Khalick was at it again, calling Dennis Omahoneys shove with pocket sevens and being dominated by the Queens of Dennis. The board however would run out K–6–9–8–10 giving Khalick a straight. Dennis would leave in 8th for £2,010.

DSC_2997

Trevor Bowers was the next man to fall, blind on blind with Dom Mahoney he would run his pocket twos into Doms aces. No help for Trevor and his 7th place finish would be good for £2,680.

DSC_2945

Dom Mahoney would take another player out in 6th position, that player would be Adam Boutwell. Adam shoved from the big blind with K-10 and ran into Doms A-K, Adam was dead on the turn. He took home £3,350.

DSC_2950

Blair Hampton lost the chip lead pot to Dom Mahoney which saw him leave us in 5th place. After a four bet pre the two players would get it in on a King high flop, Blair holding A-K vs the Kings of Dom for top set.  Blair cashed out for £4,360.

DSC_2991

Play would be alot slower four handed after losing five players in the first hour. We would then lose Khalick in fourth place. A cooler as he held 7-9 on a flop of 9–A–9 and ran into the J-9 of Dom. What a fantastic character is and he would take home £5,520.

DSC_2963

Simon Skinner who was one of the fan favourites would finish in 3rd place. His A-4 unable to beat the A-2 of Dom, who flopped a deuce. Simon would take home £8,880 for his efforts.

DSC_2957

The heads up battle between Dom & Nick was a classic, with Dom holding onto the chip lead for the majority of it. Nick would keep chipping away and then Dom would win a big pot to extend his lead. Nick would then win two big hands in a row to take the lead. Dom would fight back doubling up catching Nick at it. Back and fourth, back and fourth….

Then when Dom was down to 600,000 he got it in with 7-7 and ran into the Kings of Nick. Kings held and we had a new GukPT Champion in Nick Humphris, he would take home £16,500 and Dom would leave with £17,850 as the two players did a deal.

DSC_2971

I have to say this place is a beautiful casino with fantastic staff. The whole week has ran like clockwork with no problems at all. No one expected their to be as many as 134 players playing this weeks main event which I personally think is a fantastic turn out.

Well done to everyone who played, those who cashed and Nick Humphris work taking it down.

DSC_3155

From everyone here at the GukPT we will hopefully see you at the next one in Reading in a few weeks.

It’s All Over!! – 02/06/2013 – 19:36

Nick raises to 50,000, Dom three bets to 100,000, Nick then makes it 350,000, Dom shoves for his tournament life for 700,000 and Nick makes the call….

Dom is in trouble tabling pocket sevens against the Kings of Nick.

The board runs out 8–10–2–4–2.

With that Dom Mahoney finishes second, but he takes home the most money cashing out for £17,850.

The GukPT Main Event Champion here in Portsmouth is Nick Humphris taking home £16,500.

DSC_3139

It has been a fantastic battle between the two players heads up, but their could only be one winner.

The river was 5d.

Dom checked to Nick who moved all in. Dom said he missed his flush and straight draws and passed.

Five Bet Shove! – 02/06/2013 – 18:45

Dom opens the action making it 45,000 to play, Nick three bets to 125,000, Dom announces 265,000. Just as Dom is putting the chips across the line Nick says “All in!!” for around 1.2million!!

Dom goes into the tank for a few minutes before reluctantly letting the hand go. Nick takes the hand and with that hand, he takes the chip lead with 1.5million to Doms 1.1million.

.

The river card is 8d, completing straight and flush draws.

Dom leads out for 220,000. Nick starts saying a few expletives then eventually makes a painful call.

Dom tables J-10 for the nuts straight!! Nick tables Kings for an over pair, which is no good.

Dom Mahoney takes the pot and is now up to around 1.8million to the 800,000 of Nick.

Biggest Pot So Far – 02/06/2013 – 17:32

The turn card comes 9s.

Nick leads out again, this time for 60,000, which Dom calls again.

The river card pairs the board, coming 6c.

Nick fires out for the third and final time, betting 65,000, Dom calls.

Nick announces “Queen” and tables Q-J. Dom says he had A-10 and flicks his cards into the muck.

With top pair Nick takes the biggest pot of heads up play so far.

.

.

Small Ball – 02/06/2013 – 17:28

Still small ball poker here in Portsmouth. Nick is still chipping away at Dom though and has moved up to 1.1million. Dom however still has 1.5million.

Simon looks at his friend on the rail and says “I’m infront, but it will probably be a split pot, I don’t want to see a two” As just as Simon finishes his sent the first card comes out a TWO!! The rest of the board runs out and the two is good for Dom. Simon Skinner finishes in 3rd place for £8,880. IMG_0860 We are now heads up for the trophy!!

The Craziest Start Ever!! – 02/06/2013 – 15:05

I have been covered the GukPT Main Events going on four years now and I can safely say that this is the craziest start we have had to any final table I have ever seen!!

The record is when Tony Phillips took down GukPT Newcastle in 2009. He completely dominated and it was done for 6:20pm.

This final could well beat that!!

.

.

Blair Hampton – 5th – 02/06/2013 – 14:59

Dom Mahoney makes it 20,000 to play, action is passed round to Blair Hampton who three bets to 42,000. Dom quickly four bets to 87,000. Blair calls. The flop comes K–8–7. Dom tables KINGS for the flopped nuts! Blair is in massive trouble tabling A-K. The turn card is a 5. The river an Ace. Blair Hampton who started the day as chip leader is eliminated in 5th place for £4,360. IMG_0843 Dom Mahoney is now huge chip leader with around 1.2million!!

The Final Day – 02/06/2013 – 13:30

Well the final day is upon us here in Portsmouth. We have 9 hopefuls coming back all with their eyes on one thing, the £20,010 first place prize. There were 8 levels of fantastic play yesterday and we are looking at their being exactly the same today.

The players are all relatively unknown to me as most of them are locals to this area. Apart from Dom Mahoney, who I know very well and has been on the tour for years. That takes nothing away from the other 8 players though, who have all played fantastic to get through the field and make the final table here today.

The final table will be starting bang on time at 2pm. The players are here and ready to go.

We will have a live stream that will start at 1:50. You just need to click the live stream tab above.

Who is going to take it down??

Day 2 Round Up – 01/06/2013 – 23

.

.

Day 2 is Done – 01/06/2013 – 21:45

Well that’s it for another day of the GukPT Main Event here in P0rtsmouth. We were always going to make the final table, but we have made it with one level and three minutes to spare.

The day was up and down for most players and no one player really dominated.

Dale Simmons was the unlucky player to bubble, getting his short stack all in on the first hand of bubble play getting it in with J-J vs the Q-Q of Adam Boutwell who would eliminate him.

Players would then steadily drop till we lost Fraser Beach in sick fashion. He would get it in with two pair vs the over pair of Blair Hampton. Blair would turn a bigger two pair and that would be that.

The 9 players will be back tomorrow fight it out for the £20,000 first place prize!! Join us tomorrow for a 2pm start.

The chip counts of the final 9 are…

Blair Hampton – 554,000 Nick Humphris – 505,500 Simon Skinner – 492,500 Dom Mahoney – 304,500 Morgan Sorfleet – 204,000 Khalik Mohangee – 187,000 Trevor Bowers – 184,000 Adam Boutwell – 136,000 Dennis Omahoney – 85,500

.

.

Fraser Beach – 10th – 01/06/2013 – 21:27

On a flop of 6–5–4. Fraser Beach moves all in from first position for 93,000 and Blair Hampton makes the call. Adam who is the only other player in the pot passes…

Fraser… 6-5 for two pair

Blair… 8-8 for a gut shot and an over pair.

The turn card is another four. Giving Blair a bigger two pair.

The river card is a 7. Blair improves again rivering a straight.

Very unlucky for Fraser Beach who finishes in 10th place for £1,170.

We have now made the final 9 players!!

.

.

Khalick Doubles! – 01/06/2013 -21:20

Khalick moves all in and is called by Adam Boutwell.

Khalick… 3-3

Adam…. A-K

The flop comes down 10–6–5.
