Clarkey Ships GukPT Bolton – 11/08/2013 – 20

Wow!! What a final table that was!!

It started with the final 9 players at 2pm today and by 7:30 after a lot of ups and downs it is all over with a new GukPT Champion Michael Clarke who emulates what is dad Brian Clarke did in 2008 by shipping a GukPT Main Event.

The first player to leave us was Martin Hogarty he got his stack in with A-K and ran into the 10-10 of Michael. Tens held, which meant Martin finished in 9th place for £1,500.

DSC_8123

Todd Robinson then took control of the final knocking out roommates Liam Batey & James Conway.

Liam was unlucky flopping top pair top kicker but running into Todds set. He finished in 8th for £2,000.

DSC_8114

James Conway got his 10 big stack in with 3-3 against the A-Q of Todd. Queen on the flop and James fell in 7th place for £2,660.

DSC_8109

We were then 6 handed for a good level or two before short stack Kerry O’Connor left in 6th place for £3,320. She lost with A-K against Todd Robinson who won another coinflip.

kerry

Don Alpert was the next player to leave us making a good call on a flop of 8–7–5 with pocket fours, but was flipping against Mikey who held two overs and a flush draw. The turn was one of his overs as it come a Jack. Don left in 5th place for £4,320.

don

We were four handed for a while before seeing one of the sickest hands I have ever witnessed. Alan rivering a straight flush against the Royal Flush of Michael Clarke. Alan who was making his fourth final table finished in fourth for £5,480.

DSC_8116

The three youngsters would then go to battle and almost every hand was a three bet pot. Mark Dyson would double up a few times before getting it in with Jd-10d vs the Kd-Qd of Mikey. The King high held and Mark who played fantastic finished in third place for £8,810.

DSC_8136

Todd and Michael who started 1 and 2 in chips at the start of the day would do battle heads up with Michael holding a slight chip lead.

Michael would get the better of the early exchanges and what looked like it was going to be a long heads up battle was relatively short.

The final hand Todd four bet shove with A-9 and Mikey called with 8-8. The rail gathered as the board ran out K–Q–7–4–8. With that we had a champion. Just like his dad did in 2008 Michael rivered a set to win the title!!

DSC_8320

Very well played Todd Robinson who finished 2nd for £14,140.

DSC_8325

A massive congrats to Michael Clarke who is the GukPT Bolton Main Event Champion winning £20,000!!!

We will be for the Goliath in two weeks time so I hope you join us then.

Thanks again for tuning in.

Welcome To The Final Day – 11/08/2013 – 13:30

Good afternoon and welcome back to the G casino in Bolton for the final day of the £500 main event.

After a fantastic day of ups and downs yesterday we have nine players coming back. With each player guaranteed £1500, but what everyone wants is to win!! The winner will take home the £20,000 first place prize, the trophy and a grand final seat.

We have a mixture of young and older players on the final table. So it should make for a great final with everyone having their own style.

Michael Clarke leads the final 9 players with just over 600,000. Following by Todd Robinson who both had great days yesterday. Michael trying to match what his dad did in 2008 by taking down a GukPT main event. Bringing up the rear we have James Conway & Martyn Hogarty who will be looking for early double ups.

The players have just started to enter the casino and are all getting portraits photos taken.

The final will kick off bang on 2pm. Are you ready for it??

Liam Batey who started the day as chip leader was up and down all day but finished the day still in contention. We got stuck on the bubble for nearly two levels of play as players refused to leave. John Wood doubling up 4 times on the bubble alone!! Dean Aldred was the unfortunate bubble boy getting his short stack in with A-J and running into the K-K of James Conway. As soon as we were in the money as you could imagine the players started to open more. We lost Tina Bandyle & Brian Harland first, both min cashing for £1,000. Then we would lose Neil Woolfrey & John Wood for £1,160. With the elimination of John Wood, we were left with the final nine, with Michael Clarke out infront. They will be back tomorrow for a 2pm start, I hope you join us then.

Clarke leads out again, this time for 17,775, Adrian thinks for a minute or so before making the call. The river card is another two, doubling pairing the board. Clarke fires a third bullet, but this time he shoves, if Adrian calls it will be for his tournament life, after a minute Adrian makes the fold. Clarke shows 10-4 for ten high which is good enough to take the pot. He now has 130,000 while Adrian is down to 45,000.

First Elimination – 10/08/2013 – 12:30

The first elimination from today is James Yeo, he started today with only 7,000 chips and went a full orbit without playing a hand. He then managed to find pocket queens and got it in against the A-Q of James Conway. It was all going swimmingly as the board ran out K–2–10–3. Then the nasty deal smashed an ACE on the river to crush the fairytale story for James Yeo. He is the first man eliminated today.

End of Play – 09/08/2013 – 22:25

Well that’s it for Day 1b. It has been a fantastic day with 89 entries a massive improvement on the 44 that turned up yesterday. I said we would have more than double the entries and that’s exactly what we got. Yesterday we had only one re-entry but today was a totally different story as over 20 players re-entered. The day has been dominated by two players who will finish today on top, they are Todd Robinson who I think will go into Day 2 as chip leader with over 150,000 and Liam Batey who increased his stack level by level, he also finishes with over 100,000. We finished the day with around 40 players who will all be back tomorrow to play 9 levels or down to a final table, whichever comes first. Join us tomorrow from 11:45am, which is when the live stream will begin. Chip Counts will be up ASAP.

Champ Floored – 09/08/13 – 22:22

All in on a A-J-8 flop (2 diamonds) David shows the A-K(hearts), Mark has the A-Q(diamonds).. The turn was a nothing 6, but the river was the 7(diamonds) to give mark a huge pot and knock out the Brighton Champ.

Gary Holden has a decision on his hands in the small blind, he decides to move all in for less than Marks raise. The other players pass and the cards are tabled. Gary shows A-Q and will need help to survive as Mark tables A-K. The board runs out 4–5–8–10–2. Mark takes the pot with A-K high he now has 50,000. Gary heads out during the last level.

The turn bring a back door flush draw for Wang, so he calls another bet by Tom. The back door flush arrives so Tom looks up and stares right across the table.. Liam Batey is having a great day at the baize as he leads the day 1b players heading in to the final break of the day, then into the final level. Currently sitting with 130,000 he has had a great day, including a monster pot where he took out Ben Jackson. Liam fresh from cashing for $43,000 at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas, he has brought his A game to Bolton and has 1 level to survive today, but at the moment is looking good for a top 5 place going into day 2. Hulse Heads Out – 09/08/2013 – 21:15

Reese Joslin opens the action making it 1200 to play, Caroline Hulse then moves all in for her last 12,000 (20 bigs) Alli Mallu reshoves in the big blind for about 40,000, Reese gets out of the way. The cards are tabled and Caroline needs help. She tables 9c–8c and is up against the 10-10 of Mallu. The board runs out 4–Q–6–9–A. Although having outs on the river Caroline misses and heads out. Alli Mallu takes the last of her chips and now has 45,000. . .

Lady Luck – 09/08/13 – 21:05

Emma Ames has just doubled in fortunate fashion and is now sat just short of average stack. The stackes were being counted with Emma hitting a 2 outer on the river to survive. She held pocket 5’s and hit. Alan had A-J and had hit his Jack on the flop. Emma moves up to just over 30k.

Hickling Doubles – 09/08/2013 – 20:50

I get to the table just as Patrick Burns is five betting all in and is quickly called by Tim Hickling. Patrick is in troubling tabling A-8 vs the A-K of Tim. The board runs out 3–2–Q–K–5. Tim takes the pot with top pair top kicker. He doubles up to 46,000. Patrick on the other hand is down to just 2,000.

Paul misses, so the Ace plays for Mark, who again has 20k and the starting stack for the day.

He then calls a three bet shove by Justin Devonport, who has his tournament life in the middle of the table.

Darren counts his stack (60k!!), thinks then calls and turns over Queens!! Justin has A-K.. An ace on the flop is good, but the 2 outer then takes away any hopes for Justin, who heads to the rail.

Darren hits 75k and the Chip Lead.

Bell Uses One Time – 09/08/2013 – 18:35

While I was watching the hand on Table three there was another big pot on table number two.

The two players involved were Andrew Eland and Nicholas Bell.

All the money went in pre flop with Andrew holding Kings against the pocket Jacks of Nicholas. Andrew was at risk.

Nicholas asked the dealer to “bink him, one time!” (whatever that might mean).

The dealer burnt and dealt the flop 3–5–A.

Both players stoof in anticipation as the turn came a 10.

The river card was a JACK!!! Nicholas uses up his one time (he is allowed no more this tournament) taking the pot, he now has 20,000.

Andrew unfortunately for him heads out of the tournament.

.

Sweet Caroline – 09/08/13 – 18:28

I didn’t see the betting pre,but walked over as the dealer was counting Caroline Hulse’s stack, which was 24k and she has just doubled through Ali Mallu.

On a flop of 8-A-Q, Ali must have been thinking how to get paid as he was holding top 2 pair with A-Q. Unfortunately Caroline had pocket 8’s and was going nowhere!

Ali is down to around 10k, while sweet Caroline(Below) is sat with a healthy 50k.

McCarthy Exits – 09/08/2013 – 18:20

Action is on Tim Hickling in first position, Carl McCarthy to his left gets a little exited and limps out of turn. The action is still on Tim and he decides to change the action, making it 750 to play, Carl then moves all in for his 6900. The action is passed all the way back  round to Tim who has a decision on his hands. He checks his cards three or four times, hoping they change to aces, they don’t change but he still makes the call… It’s a coinflip as the cards are tabled..

Carl.. A-J

Tim.. 10-10

The board runs out 8–5–2–4–Q.

A strange hand which takes with a pair of tens. He is now up to 33,000. Carl heads for the exit door.

Off the Hook – 09/08/13 – 17:58

Liam Hooks 4 bet shoves his final 7175 into the middle trying to get back to  starting stack. Terry Owens who had originally 3 bet calls and so too does Imran Patel.

The board reads 3-J-6-8-9 as it is checked all the way down. Both declare nothing as Liam shows pocket 9’s, which was good enough anyway, without hitting a set on the river. Liam up to 23k, with the average at just 25,000.

.

.

Lost One – 09/08/2013 – 17:35

Since the dinner break which was 30 minutes ago we have only lost one player from the field. That player being Anwar Kanj. He leaves the cardroom with a huge smile on his face, then two minutes later he walks back past me with a stack of chips. It’s a re-entry for Anwar as he is back in.

We have 79 entries so far today with the prizepool just ticking over £60,000!!

.

.

Townsend Tilting – 09/08/2013 – 17:20

Leonard Townsend was tilting a bit after losing a big pot to Liam Batey the hand previous. He opens to 450 and gets 4 callers. The players see the flop as it comes 9–Q–9.

The action is checked to Leonard who makes a c bet of 925 and is called by John Miller.

The turn card comes an eight.

Leonard instantly moves all in for 6500, John thinks about it for about a minute and then makes the call.

Leonard tables 9-3 for trip 9’s which is well ahead of the K-Q for John who has two pair.

The river is a deuce.

Tilting obviously worked out for Leonard as he is now back up to 23,000.

John has around 25,000.

World’s Apart – 09/08/13 – 17:17

Big hand involving Martin Devlin And Michael Nabbs.

Martin raises to 600 with the blinds at 100-200. Michael 3 bets to 2400 and Martin sees the flop 2(c) – 3(c) – 2x..

Michael makes is 4500 and Martin moves all in for around 30k. Michael call and flips Aces over. martin has the 4-5(c) for the open ender, flush and straight flush draw. The board bricks and Martin is crippled to around the 5k mark. Michael sits with 65k with the average at 24k.

A Massive Difference! – 09/08/2013 – 15:58

Well today has been massively different from yesterday. Today there has been plenty of aggression and we have already lost 10 players from the field. Compared to yesterday where in the first four levels I think we lost 2 players.

This aggression will continue to at least level six as the players still have the chance to re-enter to play for the prizepool which currently stands at £59,000!!

Not a Good Day for the Honey Man – 09/08/13 – 15:47

Albert(The Honey Man) Sapiano, comes over and says “I’m just not in the mood to play poker”… A few hands later he loses his last 8k to Neil Woolfrey. His hand was in the muck before I had chance to see it, but Neil had tabled Jacks pre flop.

Albert has had both bullets today and is already on the M6 on the way back home.

Crozier Gets Mallu – 09/08/2013 – 15:40

In a seven way limped pot. Yeh that is not a typo it was seven way.

The flop comes 7–J–9 which all players check.

The turn card comes an Ace.

The action is checked round to Ben Jackson on the button who cannot help but have a stab at the pot, betting 700, Graeme Crozier makes the call. Alli Mallu then raises it up to 2100, Ben gets out of the way.

It comes back to Graeme who announces raise, making it 5600, Alli then moves all in and is snapped off!!

Graeme tables 8-10 for the nut straight! Alli shows 9-9 for a set, he will need to find a nine or the board to pair to survive.

The river is a three.

Graeme takes the pot and now has 42,000.

Alli Mallu heads out, but he still has the option to re-enter up until level 6.

.

.

Steady Away – 09/08/13 – 15:32

Play has considerably steadied an the last 30 minutes or so.. Mike Hill is nursing a stack of just 3,500 but hasn’t put them all at risk just yet. Whether he is to re-enter is undecided, but his last few chips remain behind the line.

Prize Pool currently stands at £58,500

.

.

Level Four – 09/08/2013 – 15:20

Hill Loses Big Flip!- 09/08/2013 – 15

I get to the table as Mike Hill has made it 2300 after a raise from Ross Newton who had made it 1100 (must of been a three bet), Ross then takes little time before moving all in for 14,000. Mike has a real decision on his hands now, going deep into the tank and staring at Ross looking for tells. He eventually makes the call and puts his chips across the line.

Ross tables A-K and it is a classic coin flip as Mike tables Queens!!

The flop comes 7–5–7.

The turn card is a KING, putting Ross in the lead.

The river card is a deuce.

Ross takes the pot with two pair doubling up to 29,000. Mike is down to 5,000

.

.

Owens Re-enters – 09/08/2013 – 14:50

I get to the table just as Terry Owens is getting the last of his 3k stack in the middle on a board of 4s–2d–Ad–8d vs Todd Robinson.

Todd tables Jd–9d for the flush and Terry stands up and says “I’m dead” The dealer turns his cards over and he has A-5 so he is dead!

He passes me and says “rebuy me thinks…” Good luck to him on his second bullet as he obviously didn’t have the luck with his first one.

Mark James has made the trip down from the North East to play leg 8 and has just got himself back to starting stack. All in pre with A-K against Gary Holden’s Jacks, he hits 4 to the flush with his King and starts again. Eventful start for Mark, but now is back to his original 20k stack.

.

Sapiano Eliminated – 09/08/2013 – 13:55

I get to the table as Ben Jackson has just moved all in on a board of 8–Q–J–J–J. Albert Sapiano is the only other player in the hand, he thinks about it for a minute or two before making the call for his tournament life.

Ben tables J-9 for Quads!! Albert flashes a Queen, stands up an leaves the table. He is off straight to the desk to re-enter, which players are allowed to do once each.

Ben Jackson has had a good start and now has 40,000.

.

.

.

.

Merry Miller – 09/08/13 – 13:31

John Miller(Below) is just about chip leader with 38k as he takes out Chris Howden. I get to the table where I see all the chips moving in the direction of John. Chris’s chair is empty and Albert Sapiano who is on the table said “Straight, flush and a full house”. John said he had loosened up considerably, playing the 4th nuts!!

Batey Doubles – 09/08/2013 – 13:30

Liam Batey sits down first hand and manages to double up!!

Mark McCluskey opens the action making it 250 to play, and receives three callers, so Liam makes up his big blind.

The flop comes J–9–3. Mark c bets and Liam makes the call.

The turn card comes a King.

Mark bets 1,100, Liam makes it 3500, Mark raises, Liam moves in and Mark makes the call.

Liam tables Q-10 for the nut straight while Mark tables pocket Jacks for a set!! Cooler!!

The river card is a brick.

Liam doubles up to 40,000 while Mark is left with just a few thousand chips.

.

.

Lost 2.. 09/08/13 – 13:19

Two quick exits at the start of level 2. Bruce Hardman, who used to do the circuit in years past, has been eliminated. Also gone for a second time in the tourney is Reese Joslin.

Numbers have increased to 60, which means the guarantee has been surpassed.

.

.

Level Two – 09/08/2013 – 13:05

The blinds increase as we begin the second level of the day.

They are now 50/100.

59 entries so far today, of which 58 remain in the tournament.

.

.

Sapiano Already Active – 09/08/13 – 13

Albert Sapiano gets involved early(As you would expect). On the button John Fletcher  raises it up and Albert calls out of the small blind. A J-3-7 flop is bet by Albert and raised up to 3000 by John, Albert calls. Albert makes it 6k on the turn when a 4 hits. They both then check the river as a 6 hits the table.. John flips J-Q, while Albert checks the board and asks if the flush is there… No is the reply, so he turns over his Aces! “I couldn’t see the board” he says as he scoops in a decent pot.

Adam On Top – 09/08/2013 – 12:50

Local living legend (in his own house) Adam Topping has just relayed a hand to be which has seen him become one of the front runners in the tournament after 50 minutes of play.

He opens the action with 8-6 of diamonds making it 125 to play and got three callers.

The flop was a good one as it came 8–6–3 giving him top two, he made a c bet of 300 and just Patrick Burns made the call.

The turn was another six, giving Topping a full house, he bet again firing 450, which was again called.

The river came a Jack and this is where the pot escalated. Adam bet 1300, Patrick raised to 3500, Adam clicked it back making it 7200. Patrick then raised again making it 14,000, Adam thought he had been coolered and just made the call. Patrick was at it as he mucked leaving himself with just 4,000. Adam (below) on the other hand is up to 36,000.

Man Down – 09/08/2013 – 12:35

One player down already here in Manchester as we lose Paul Bread in the first 30 minutes of play. He seems to have done his dough in (wow that’s bad). Anyway the man who looks to have taken most of his chips is Todd Robinson who has had a good start and is up to 40,000.

Welcome to Day 1b – 09/08/2013 – 11:30

Good morning and welcome back to Bolton for Day 1b of the GukPT Main Event. We had 44 entries yesterday and are looking for more than double that number today, which I am sure we will get. Carlos Chang finished yesterday top of the three with a stack of 88650. I’m sure one player today will be able to beat that as the field will be alot bigger.

30 minutes until we kick off todays play. It should be a fantastic days poker.

Day 1a is Done – 08/08/2013 – 22:48

Well that’s it for Day 1a here in Bolton. We had 44 entries so far today, which everyone was relatively happy. I think this is the lowest leg so far in terms of re-entries as we only had one allll day!!

After some tight play all day we only lost 2 players in the first four levels.  We would eventually finish with 17 players. No one player dominated the day but Carlos Chang finished on top after knocking two players out the final hand of the day.

We will be back tomorrow from 11:30am to bring you the action from Day 1b, so join us then.

.

.

Lost Two! – 08/08/2013 – 22:35

Well all the tables were playing their last hand before we picked out how many hands we would play. There was then a three way all in on table 4.

Reese Joslin opened the action making it 2,000 to play, Andy Peters shoved for 14,000, Carlos Chang then made the call from the big blind. Action came back round to Reese who shoved for 16,000! Carlos also called this, the cards were tabled…

Andy… A-3 Reese… 6-6 Carlos.. J-J

The board ran out 5–2–Q–2–10.

Jacks held for Carlos who took the 45k pot.

Both Reese and Andy head for the exit door.

With that play has now finished for the day, as the players start to bag and tag.

.

.

Clock Paused – 08/08/13 – 22:25

The clock has been paused which we didn’t think was going to happen. But we have reached that time where a certain number of hands will be played on each table at the end of the day….. And the number is………………………

.

Kellett Rivered! – 08/08/2013 – 22:10

The action is passed round to Richard Kellett on the button who moves all in for 12,000. Martin Hogarty calls in the big blind.

Kellett needs help tabling Q-J against the A-Q of Martin.

The flop comes K–6–J as Kellett takes the lead.

The turn card is a Queen giving Kellett two pair.

The river card is a King. Martins Ace comes into play as both players now have two pair kings and queens.

We lose Richard Kellett and are now down to 19 players.

.

.

Timely Double – 08/08/13 – 21:58

John Wood makes it 800, Brian Harland thinks it’s time to gamble and jams his 14,000 over the line. A small dwell from Reese Joslin who then calls. The original raiser folds A-J open faced.

On your backs….. A-10 for Brian, who is behind to the pocket 4’s of Reese. The board then reads 5-8-7-A-5 to give Brian a 32k pot. Reese is down to 19k, which is half average.

.

.

King High Good For Dawson – 08/08/2013 – 21:51

On a flop of As–4s–Qd, Craig Dawson & Hamish Mojaria get it all in!!

Craig tabling K-5 of spades for the nut flush draw which is ahead of the J-10 of spades of Hamish who will need to improve to survive.

The turn and river cards are both eights.

Craig takes the pot as his king high is good. He now has 85,000.

Hamish the only blue blood member playing today heads for the exit door.

.

.

Wolf Exits – 08/08/2013 – 21:45

In a limped pot the flop comes 9–6–5.

Simon Wolf is first to act and he moves all in for his last 5,000, action is then passed round to Alan McLean who makes the call.

Simon needs help tabling 7-3 for a double gut shot. Alan tables 9-8 for top pair.

The turn card is an Ace.

The river card a King.

With that we lose Simon Wolf from the field and we are down to 21.

.

.

The Last Level – 08/08/2013 – 21:35

The players are back seated as we begin the last level of the night.

Blinds are 400/800 with a 100 ante.

We have 22 players remaining from the 44 entries.

.

.

18 is the Magic Number – 08/08/13 – 20:56

Play will stop for the day if we get to 18 players. With 22 players remaining at the moment, it is a possibility that we will be doing exactly that. 1 level and 25 minutes to play if we don’t hit 18, but we think we will stop short of a full days play.

.

.

Chip Counts – 08/08/2013 – 20:49

Adrian Burns makes it 1200 to play, Mikey Clarke calls, the action comes to Alli Mallu in the small blind who moves all in for around 20,000. Adrian goes into the tank for a minute or so before making the call. Mikey passes.

Adrian tables A-Q and doesn’t really like it as Alli tables 6-2 of hearts, is he about to get Mallu’d??

The board runs out K–A–9–7–10.

Adrian wins with a pair of Aces, he now has around 52,000.

Alli heads out and I’m sure he will be back again tomorrow.

With just the 43 players total for the day, +8 mins if anyone wants to buy in, blogging those big hands have been at a premium. A full chip count will be with us at the end of the level. John Eames still going along nicely with 60k. 30 players remain with 3 levels of play or down to 18 players, which has been done just once this season, which was Stockton on Tees.

.

.

Last Level Of Buy Ins – 08/08/2013 – 18:40

This is the last level that the players can enter, or re-enter if they wish to do so, because of this we usually see a few bust outs as the players try to double up or re-enter. Today however it is exactly the opposite as most players are still playing relatively tight.

All day we have only had one re-entry, which is an all time low for the tour this year.

The last player to be eliminated was Hamid Toghyan.

.

.

Singleton Busts – 08/08/2013 – 18:30

A player opens, Keith Singleton then three bets to 3500, the player then moves all in… He has Keith covered.

Keith then goes deep into the tank, he thinks for a good 2/3minutes before making the call for his tournament life.

The player tables ACES, Keith will need help showing pocket Kings.

No sign of a King on board as it runs out 9–6–2–10–5.

Keith Singleton is now watching from the rail as he heads out.

.

.

  Townsend Down & Out – 08/08/2013 – 18:15

I hear the cry of all in and a call and look to see Leonard Townsend all in for his last 7,000 chips on a board of 3s–2s–6d–9s. He has been called by Latif.

Latif tables 10s–7s for the flush, Leonard will need help showing 9-6 for the top two pair.

The river is no help as it comes an Ace.

Leonard is eliminated from the tournament.

While Latif is up to 45,000.

.

.

Level Six – 08/08/2013 – 18:05

The blinds increase, they are now 150/300 with a 25 ante.

We have 35 players remaining from the 43 entries.

Big Guns – 08-08-13 – 18

Having moved tables 3 times already, Adam Clark is now looking straight across at John Eames. The two guys won’t have met many times at the table, but on the virtual game, these two are big guns.

Adam, (Clarkatroid) was one of the biggest players online only a couple of years ago, amassing 1 million hands in 1 year as he multi-tabled 10-12 at a time! John is also used to playing for hours at a time online. It is nice to see these 2 sat playing a GukPT event local to both of them.

At The moment Adam is doing fine with 30k, whilst John is current leader on 65k after taking out Barry Grimes in the last few minutes.

Hoggarty Gets Wood – 08/08/2013 – 17:45

Liam Batey opens the action making it 525 to play, Martin Hogarty then three bets to 1675 and gets two callers behind, one of them Matthew Wood the other being Hamid Toghyan, Liam then also calls to create a big pot.

The four players go to the flop as it comes A–K–9.

Hamid checks, Liam bets 3200, Martin & Matthew both call before Hamid makes the fold.

The turn card is a seven.

Liam opts to check this time, Martin takes control of the pot, putting in a bet of 12,000. Matthew then goes into the tank, thinking of what to do, he eventually moves all in!! Liam gets out of the way and Martin makes the call for around 3k more.

Martin tables A-K for top two, as he tables that Matthew says “I’m  drawing dead” as he shows A-Q.

The river is a meaningless seven.

Matthew Wood heads out of the tournament, while Martin Hogarty is now up to 38,000.

3 Way All In… – 08-08-13 – 15:53

We get called over to the table where there are 3 players all in on a flop of 8(d) – 9(s) – 3(d). Hamish Morjaria tables Kings, Peter Hannam flips Aces over and local lady and regular player here at the casino Nicola Smith(Below) has 10-J(d) for the up and down straight draw and the flush draw to boot. A 10 on the turn gives Nicola more outs and one of them duly lands on the river. The 7(c) giving her the straight. Hamish is down to 11k, while we lose Peter holding the best hand pre and on the flop. Nicola near trebles to 40k as she had Peter covered.

Champ is Down and Out! – 08-08-13 – 15:30

David Lloyd(Below) who bested the biggest £500 main event leg of the year in Brighton at the end of last month is the second casualty of the day.. His nemesis Hamish Majoria is stacking well over 30k and one of the leaders in the early levels of day 1a. Main Event Travel’s IT guy, will have to re-enter at some point if he is to emulate his awesome performance down on the south coast.

Miss Read – 08/08/2013 – 14:55

Michael Clarke makes it 400 to play pre flop and is called in four spots. The players see the flop as it comes 4–3–3.

Mikey makes a c bet of 550 and is called by Martin Hogarty.

The turn card comes another three. Martin checks to Mikey who fires again, betting 1300, Martin makes the call.

The river card is a King.

Martin checks for a third time, Mikey fires the last bullet, a big bet of 5,000.

Martin looks at his cards and says the turn was a bad card for him, tabling pocket fours for a full house, fours over threes. Mikey shows AA for threes over Aces.

Martin obviously miss read his hand as Mikey takes the pot.

 Is It Him??? – 08-08-13 – 14:50

Is It or isn’t it? During level 3 of the day in walks Simon Taberham, who looks a little like hero and lead singer of the biggest rock band in the world, AC/DC. Brian Johnson, who guest appeared on Top Gear earlier in the year might just have taken up poker as his hobby!! If not Simon might get stopped in the street as he leaves later!

First All In & A Call! – 08/08/2013 – 13:40

Craig Heaton makes it 225 to play, directly to his left John Wood makes the call. Simon Wolf then enters the pot, three betting to 800.

The action comes all the way back round to Craig who makes the call for 800. John then makes a HUGE shove for all his stack, around 18,000, Simon wastes little time before also moving ALL IN!!

Craig, who started all the action goes into the tank, he is playing around 11,000, he eventually folds and shows pocket KINGS face up.

It turns out to be a great fold as both Simon & John table ACES!!!

The board runs out 2–J–Q–Q–5. No flush for either and they chop the pot.

Still no eliminations with 15 minutes before we take our first break of the day.

Bad Start For Boothy – 08/08/2013 – 13:10

Andy Booth one of the funniest guys I know, was full of optimism before this event has his facebook status showed this morning. Why wouldn’t he be with two main event final tables to his name. One this year in Didsbury, finishing 6th for £3,600.

boothy

After a bad start though and down to 14,000 he has just recently posted this….

boothy 2

He’s still, as always in great spirits laughing and joking at the tables. Or atleast trying to.

Uneventful Start- 08/08/2013 – 12:40

Well it has been a very uneventful start during the first level of the day. No big pots to speak of. Which you would expect with all players starting with 400 big blinds.

We are now up to 31 players though as one more joins the group. That is GukPT Blackpool champion from 2011 Andy Peters, he takes his seat on table two.

Welcome To Bolton – 08/08/2013 – 11:45

grosvenor-casino-bolton

Welcome to Bolton for another leg of the GukPT. The tournament over the next four days is a £500 buy in main event with a £50,000 GTD!!

Bolton was host to the first ever leg of the GukPT. Way back in January 2007, which was won by Praz Bansi (below), taking down the £75,000 first placed prize after beating Karl Mahrenholz heads up.

praz

We are looking forward to what should be a fantastic four days of poker. The last time we were in Bolton for a Main Event was last season when Ben ‘jenbizzle’ Jones took down the main event winning £17,500.

The tournament today will kick off in 15 minutes. .
