Martin Hogarty GUKPT London Champion – 01/02/2016 – 03:15

Well what an even that just was. After four days of play, played over two months, the first leg of the GUKPT 2016 Tour is now in the books. It will go down as one of the most well attended GUKPTs of all time as in total we had 394 entries creating a massive prizepool for the players to play for.
There was a great mixture of GUKPT regulars, Vic regulars, professional players we haven’t seen in a while and satellite qualifiers in the field which meant for great viewing. As you have seen on the live stream as we streamed every single day.
We came back to the final day today with 30 players and we knew it would be a long one. The first level was complete madness as 10 players bit the dust as we would say goodbye to:
20th – £3,550 – Charlie Carrel
21st – £3,150 – Arun Sood
22nd – £3,150 – Ravi Sharda
23rd – £3,150 – David Barnes
24th – £3,150 – Alain Teffaud
25th – £2,750 – Les Kearney
26th – £2,750 – Ben Heath
27th – £2,750 – Jorge Walsh
28th – £2,750 – Ramsey Ajram
29th – £2,750 – Deborah Worley-Roberts
30th – £2,750 – Briane Peattie
Play would continue and within a few hours we were down to our final nine players as we would lose

10th – £6,300 – Grant Wheelhouse
11th – £5,550 – Pablo Martinez
12th – £5,100 – David Greene
13th – £4,700 – Angelos Nastos-Megas
14th – £4,350 – Samir Tageldin
15th – £4,350 – Paul Barnes
16th – £3,950 – Dan Bushell
17th – £3,950 – Danny Toffel
18th – £3,550 – Gang Wang
19th – £3,550 – Leo Margets
The final table begun and all the stacks were quite even. The only short stack was Adrian Mateos, he kept shoving trying to find an early double, but no one seemed to want to give him a spin. Adrian also said he had a big Sunday online tonight and wanted to get back for it. He eventually got his stack in holding A-3 and ran into the A-Q of Mark Banin. Mark hit trip queens which would send the Spanish poker legend to the cash desk to collect £7,450.

The chips then went round and round for two and a half hours before the players took a break. On their break they agreed an eight way ICM chop which all the players were happy with, guaranteeing themselves at least £24,000 but leaving £48,000 for the winner to collect. The average stack at the time was 19 big so the players believed it was the right thing to do.

After the deal Dahe Liu was the first player to leave, he got his eleven big blinds all in holding A-Q but came up against the pocket queens of Ben Winsor. Dahe would finish in 8th place for £24,049.
The player who probably had the biggest online following, Marc Foggin would leave us in 7th place. He three bet shove against Martin Hogarty who made a big call holding which would be behind to the of Marc. The board was sick for Marc as it ran out he flopped top two but Martin rivered a straight to take a huge pot. Marc would collect £26,020 from the cash desk.

In 6th place we would lose the deal instigator Mark Banin, he called off 98% of his stack holding and came up against the of Dan. Mark would lose the hand and lose the rest of his chips shortly after. He was happy with his 6th place finish for £33,537.
The happiest person at the table and one of the happiest people I’ve ever seen playing poker was Mr.B and he would be our 5th place finisher. He told he this was only his second ever tournament, he cashed for £1k in the first one. He thought he would give this one a go and played very well right up until the last hand where he bluff shoved the flop and got caught at it by Dan who had flopped top pair. Mr.B took the biggest prize in the chop and would take home just short of £50k, £49,981 to be exact.

The next player out would be Mykola Vysotski who was up and down the whole way through the final table. Him and Martin would see a flop of with Mykola holding he would get it in with top pair, but come up against the of Martin who flopped top two. No King for Mykola and he would finish in 4th place for £24,300.

The GUKPT Grand Final Champion Ben Winsor would just come up short from becoming the first ever player to win back to back GUKPT events. He doubled up on the final table a few times but just couldn’t keep a stack and would eventually leave us in 3rd place for £36,103.

Before the players began heads up play they decided to do a deal, taking £15,000 each and continue to play on for the remaining £18,000.

Heads up play would last 90 minutes before Daniel Barriocanal shoved holding and was called by Martin who found . Both players missed the flop and that would give us a champion. Well played first to Daniel Barriocanal who would take home £47,962 for second place, but a huge well done to GUKPT regular Martin Hogarty who takes home £66,538, the title and trophy.

It’s been a phenomenal event which has ran like clockwork. The GUKPT Tour is back with a bang and the players have come out to support it in their numbers.

That’s all from us, we have enjoyed bringing you the coverage over the last 4 days and we hope you’ve enjoyed tuning in. We will be back in a months time for four more days of live streaming and coverage, so join us then.

Until next time, be lucky.

Welcome To Day Three  – 31/01/2016 – 11:30

Good afternoon and welcome back to the third and final day of the GUKPT London Leg.

This leg hasn’t disappointed and has been one of the biggest legs in GUKPT history. Of the 394 entries there are 30 coming back for day three and they have all made the money. Everyone is GTD at least £2,750, but they will all have their eyes on the first placed prize of £109,550.

We have some great names coming back, Ben Winsor & Charlie Carrel, the two most recent GUKPT Grand Final winners, Adrian Mateos who holds a Bracelet and an EPT title despite being only 21 years old. We have plenty of tour regulars still in and looking for their first GUKPT title, there’s also a lot of Vic players who are supporting their local leg. It’s a good mixture so it should be a great day.

The day will start at 12pm, stay with us here as we’ll bringing you chip counts, pictures, exits and hands from the tables until we have a winner later on tonight. The live stream will start at 12:25pm where all hole cards will be shown with the table being rotated every two levels.
